Bali is a paradise in one of Indoneisa's island with majority of Hindu religion & is also the largest tourist destination in Indonesia.
Indonesia is an archipelagic country extending 5,120 kilometers from east to west and 1,760 kilometers from north to south. It encompasses an estimated 17,508 islands, only 6,000 of which are inhabited.Bali is one of it, a paradise island that has an area of 5,632 sq. km and measures only 140 km by 90 km. Located near the equator, Bali is a perpetual tropical haven with a temperature range of 32 to 35 degrees Celsius. Bali is usually more windy during the dry season from April to September. It is dramatically mountainous especially in the western region, and the center of the island is dominated by a number of volcanic mountains and agricultural lands and the terrain is wider with gentle slopes. Bali is also encircled by coral reefs, white sandy beach on south west and black (volcanic) sand blankets the beaches in the east and north.
Balinese people are friendly, with a population recorded as 3,551,000 in 2009, the island is home to the vast majority of Indonesia's small Hindu minority. About 93.18% of Bali's population adheres to Balinese Hinduism, while most of the remainder follow Islam. It is also the largest tourist destination in the country and is renowned for its highly developed arts, including dance, sculpture, painting, leather, metalworking and music. The economyís largest output, agriculture is still the islandís biggest employer;most notably rice cultivation. Crops grown in smaller amounts include fruit, vegetables, Coffea arabica and other cash and subsistence crops. Fishing also provides a significant number of jobs.
Bali is also famous for its artisans who produce a vast array of handicrafts, including batik and ikat cloth and clothing, wooden carvings, stone carvings, painted art and silverware. Notably, individual villages typically adopt a single product, such as wind chimes or wooden furniture.
The most significant tourism exists in the north, centre and east of the island, the tourism industry is overwhelmingly focused in the south. The main tourist locations are the town of Kuta (with its beach), and its outer suburbs (which were once independent townships) of Legian and Seminyak; the east coast town of Sanur (once the only tourist hub); to the south of the airport is Jimbaran & Nusa Dua on the east; in the center of the island Ubud; and the newer development of Pecatu Graha in the Bukit.
